Edwin McCain Headlines 2017 Salt Air Jam
We’re extremely excited to finally announce that Edwin McCain will headline the 2017 Salt Air jam. This year”s event includes a concert and charity golf tournament. The concert is Friday May 19th at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex Amphitheater. The Salt Air Jam DimanondBack Golf Club charity scramble will be Saturday May 20th at DiamondBack Golf Club in Loris, SC.
We’re very fortunate to be supported once again (in 2017) by Jim Quick, who helped us create Salt Air Jam in 2015, and Tim Clark who joined our team in 2016. Both these guys and their bands are committed for the long haul, and plan to be part of Salt Air Jam each year. One of the goals for Salt Air Jam is to bring variety to the stage. We’ve been working behind the scenes for the past several weeks to work out all the necessary details to add Edwin McCain to our line up as this year’s headliner.
Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio.
Last year, McCain suddenly found himself with a whole new crop of fans when his “Flipping Ships” television show debuted on Animal Planet. “Flipping Ships” took him from the chart tops to the boat shop – his very own Boats Have Souls (www.BoatsHaveSouls.com), a restoration outfit dedicated to bringing life back to vessels and customizing them to perfectly fit their new owners. But his heart remains on the road. Once the “Flipping Ships” season ended, Edwin picked up his guitar once again and returned to the stage. “The 15-year-old me would have crawled through a river of fire to be the 41-year-old singer/songwriter that I am today, and I remember that. I am incredibly grateful to be able to do this.”
Gates will open (tentative) at 1 PM and the music will begin at 2 PM with local 1950s rock n rollers Mister Fifties Band. Mister Fifties brings a 1950s rock n roll show to the stage and have built a reputation for entertaining. Jim Quick & Coastline will follow Mister Fifties with JQs familiar and original Swamp Soul and Carolina Beach Music. I’ve lost track of just how many CBMA Entertainer of the Year Awards JQ now has under his belt. I think is more than 14 but less than 20. The Tim Clark Band will take the stage next and entertain the crowd with their phenomenal repertoire of rock, pop, beach music, and more. Then our headliner, Edwin McCain will entertain us with his some of his chart-topping staples such as “I’ll Be”, and “I Could Not Ask For More” along with some new tunes. Coming all the way from Philadelphia, Pa DJ Eddie C will be our emcee.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. We’re offering (for a very limited time) some $20 Early Bird tickets in quantities of 2 to 10. A donation to Cystic Fibrosis will be made from the proceeds of this concert. Lat year we raised almost $3000.00. Come help us blow that away for CF.
The first Salt Air Jam Charity Scramble kicks off (shotgun start) at 9:30 AM Saturday May 20th at DiamondBack Golf Club. Golfers will receive breakfast, lunch, and prizes with their entry. A portion of each entry will go to Cystic Fibrosis.
