About Salt Air® Scramble & Jam
Eli’s Army – #soldiers4cf
Salt Air® Jam is an annual (Began in 2015) fundraiser for Salt Air® Foundation to benefit Cystic Fibrosis (CF) outpatients.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a progressive, genetic (still terminal) disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage and eventually, respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
The organizers of Salt Air® Jam learned about the challenges facing CF patients when Eli Gilder was born. Eli is the grandson of (organizer) Jeff Gilder and son of Dustin and Misty Gilder. Eli has CF. Expenses for normal care, medications, and treatment can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars annually per patient. While there are programs available to offset the costs of care, medication, and treatment of CF patients who are hospitalized, patients who manage to avoid hospitalization are often faced with fewer choices. Approval for financial assistance is (purposely) virtually impossible without the help of knowledgeable social workers and / or attorneys.
It is the goal for Salt Air® Jam to raise awareness, gather donations, and provide scholarships for students with CF. Join us. Be part of Eli’s Army #soldiers4cf. Help find a cure for this disease. Salt Air® foundation is a South Carolina 501c3 non profit organization.
